Diggerland USA Construction Theme Park

If you are looking for a great attraction for kids, don’t miss Diggerland USA. Diggerland is a construction-themed adventure park where children and their families drive, ride and operate heavy machinery in a safe, family-friendly environment.

My nephew is nine years old and had the best time at Diggerland. It’s unlike other amusement parks where you may not enjoy roller coasters or long lines for the attractions. Diggerland is not only fun but educational.

We planned our trip to Diggerland as part of a road trip from Washington D.C. You can also fly into Philadelphia International Airport. There are many attractions in D.C., Pennsylvania and Virginia for families making it a great vacation destination.

Diggerland USA

Diggerland was my nephew’s favorite amusement park. He’s visited Disney, Universal, Sea World, and Lego Land. He asked me if we could buy season passes when we were leaving the park. I promised him we would visit again since it’s so close to Philadelphia and less than a 2 hour drive from Washington, D.C.

Where is Diggerland Located?

Diggerland USA is located in West Berlin, New Jersey. It’s 35 miles from Philadelphia. You can find directions to Diggerland here.

What Age is Diggerland Appropriate For?

It’s not so much the age; it’s the height. All of Diggerland’s rides require a minimum of 36″ (sometimes 42″) to participate. Diggerland USA has a kids zone for little ones to slide, swing and play, with plenty of benches and picnic tables for adults to sit.

How Much is Parking at Diggerland?

Parking is free. The parking lot is next to the park and an easy walk to the entrance. You don’t need a shuttle bus or a tram to get to and from the park.

Is Diggerland open year-round?

Diggerland stays open rain or shine (except in cases of severe weather). They are open March through December.

What Can I Eat at Diggerland?

Diggerland USA has a full service café, “The Lunch Pail,” and two quick-service locations, “The Munch Box” and “The Forklift”. Outside food and beverages are not allowed into the park except for one clear, unopened bottle of water per guest and for certain exceptions for medical purposes and food allergies.

You can view the menu online on their Food Options page.

Diggerland XL

Adults 18 and over can participate in the Diggerland XL program. Book this at Diggerland and you’ll get to operate full-sized construction equipment. I think this would be a great team building activity.

Check it out here.

Most of the rides are JCB heavy construction equipment. All equipment has been modified for safe handling. The ride operators have to show each guest how to operate machines. They had to help people on and off rides. They had to help in hooking up safety equipment on some rides. All of the employees we met were very nice.

Final Thoughts

I recommend arriving when the park opens. We stayed for six hours. There are several hotels nearby or you can drive to Philadelphia or Washington, D.C. and continue your vacation.

The park and restrooms are very clean.
