Looking for a good book to read? I’m sharing 10 must-read books to add to your reading list. Books to inform, encourage, and keep you up way past your bedtime.
1. LIFE REIMAGINED: THE SCIENCE, ART, AND OPPORTUNITY OF MIDLIFE | Barbara Bradley Hagerty: This book is not just for middle-aged people. It is for anyone feeling depressed and lonely or unsure of what you want to do with the rest of your life. The book is based on Barbara’s own midlife crisis and chronicles her search to discover how to thrive at midlife.
2. THE FLOWER CHEF: A MODERN GUIDE TO DO-IT-YOURSELF FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS | Carly Cylinder: Carly Cylinder is the owner of Flour LA. Carly’s book lays out each step in the flower recipe and includes icons indicating difficulty and cost levels. For more tutorials, check out her YouTube videos. Carly also teaches workshops.

3. LADY MIDNIGHT | Cassandra Clare: As a sequel to the critically acclaimed Mortal Instruments series, Cassandra Clare writes a new series about The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles. Lady Midnight is a tangle of mystery and an unrequited love story that will break your heart and make you wish the next installment was already here.
4. HIDDEN BODIES | Caroline Kepnes: Hidden Bodies is the sequel to one of my favorite thrillers, You by Caroline Kepnes. It is just as delicious and insane as its predecessor. You is a one-sided love story and suspense novel packed with pop culture references and razor-sharp prose. Caroline’s first novel, You, is in development at Showtime. It was shortlisted for the CWA New Blood Award and named a Suspense Magazine Best Book of the Year.
5. UNREASONABLE HOPE | Chad Veach: When things go horribly wrong and the world seems to be unraveling, how do you believe in God’s goodness? How do you cling to hope? Chad Veach draws from God’s promises in the Bible and from the story of his own daughter’s diagnosis of a devastating and debilitating disease to reveal simple, purposeful steps for dealing with pain. Resting in God’s love, remembering his past faithfulness, and realizing the distinction between having faith and clinging to hope are just some of these steps. Veach reminds us that because we know who God is, we know there is hope.
6. A MIND OF YOUR OWN: WHAT WOMEN CAN DO ABOUT DEPRESSION THAT BIG PHARMA CAN’T | Dr. Kelly Brogan: If you or someone you love has to deal with depression, I strongly recommend A Mind of Your Own. Dr. Brogan shares the underlying causes of depression, the problems with antidepressants and their studies, and how medication for depression masks the disorder’s underlying conditions.
Listen to Dr. Brogan’s interview with Sean Croxton here.
7. FOOL ME ONCE | Harlan Coben: If you are looking for a thrilling and suspenseful read, Fool Me Once will not disappoint. Former special ops pilot Maya, home from the war, sees an unthinkable image captured by her nanny cam while she is at work: her two-year-old daughter playing with Maya’s husband, Joe—who had been brutally murdered two weeks earlier. The provocative question at the heart of the mystery: Can you believe everything you see with your own eyes, even when you desperately want to? To find the answer, Maya must finally come to terms with deep secrets and deceit in her own past before she can face the unbelievable truth about her husband and herself.
8. SMARTER FASTER BETTER | Charles Duhigg: Charles Duhigg is the best-selling author of The Power of Habit. In The Power of Habit, Duhigg explains why we do what we do. In Smarter Faster Better, he explains how we can improve the things we do and get more done to become smarter, faster, and better at everything we do. Check out this video to learn how to write a better to-do list.
9. (UN)QUALIFIED | Steven Furtick: This is a book for anyone frustrated with your failures and fed up with your weaknesses. It’s about coming to terms with the good, the bad, and the unmentionable in your life.
10. DEEP BLUE | Randy Wayne White: Randy White is a successful author from Florida. The new book is a thrilling read. The main character is Doc Ford, who has long lived a double life. This time, it may finally have caught up with him. On a moonless night on Sanibel Island, Florida, marine biologist Marion Doc Ford carefully watches a video of a hooded man executing three hostages. The man is an American working with ISIS, and in the next few days, it will be Ford’s job to make sure he never kills anybody else again. But a lot can go wrong in a few days, and Ford has no way of knowing that not only will the operation prove to be a lot more complicated than he has anticipated, but that he will end up bringing those complications back with him to the small community of boaters, guides, lovers, and friends in Dinkin’s Bay, where he has long made his home. Someone has taken Ford’s actions very personally, and now no one there is safe least of all, Ford himself.

I’ve never desired to purchase an e-reader but I’m starting to wonder if it would be helpful with late night feeding sessions. There are so many books I want to read this year it’s hard to stay on top of everything.
I’m currently reading For Whom The Bells Toll. It’s in the category of a book that was once banned in my 2016 reading challenge.
My mom enjoys her e-reader. Amazon offers a free book per month for the Kindle. I have so many books on my list to read as well. I try to oder some like “Smarter Faster Better” that do not take long to read. I just finished Emily Maynard’s book, “I Said Yes.” It was encouraging to see her finally meet a terrific guy that shares her faith in the Lord. Since you picked a banned book, you may be interested in Banned Books week later this year http://www.bannedbooksweek.org
I really want to read Unreasonable Hope. Thank you for sharing!
